This is a wild story about a group of Qatari royals who went on an extended falconry hunt in Southern Iraq only to end up kidnapped. The result may be the largest ransom payment ever made.
While this story is as entertaining as anything you would find in a movie, it also provides some real insight into just how complicated and tangled everything in the middle east is. It’s hard to keep track of where a single nation’s interests lie, let alone one sectarian group within the nation.
Bonus material is the really cool description of what it’s like to actually go hunting with a raptor falcon.
